A 50-year-old woman presented with swelling, redness, and pain in her right knee area over the past week. The onset of symptoms followed an incident where she was struck by a tree trunk. Initially, the wound was small, but it progressively widened, swelled, and began to discharge pus. The patient also reported experiencing fever for the past 5 days. She has a medical history of diabetes mellitus. Upon examination, vital signs were found to be within normal limits. Laboratory results revealed an elevated white blood cell count of 24,000 cells/cmm, increased blood glucose levels at 290 mg/dL, and a decreased hemoglobin level of 8.9 g/dL. The patient was diagnosed with ecthyma and cellulitis, accompanied by mild anemia and hyperglycemia associated with diabetes mellitus. She was administered antibiotics, insulin, analgesics, and iron supplements.
