Chronic Abdominal Pain in...

A 55-year-old female presented to the emergency department with a one-month history of chronic abdominal pain, characterized by intermittent episodes of burning micturition and reduced urinary output. On general examination, abdominal distension was noted, and bowel sounds were found to be absent. The patient had no prior medical history of diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disorders, or fever. Given the clinical presentation, a series of investigations were initiated. Additionally, an X-ray of the erect abdomen and abdominal ultrasound with a specific focus on the abdomen were ordered to aid in diagnosis. Depending on the results of these investigations, further evaluation may include a non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) of the abdomen or magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP). Kindly help in diagnosing this patient.
