Dr. Rughwani made a heartfelt plea for presidential intervention regarding the Kolkata incident, which has sparked widespread outrage and calls for action across the nation. He emphasized the need for decisive measures to enhance the safety of doctors within their workplaces, highlighting that healthcare professionals are often vulnerable to violence and hostility in their line of work. In addition to advocating for the safety of medical practitioners, Dr. Rughwani urged the President to ensure justice for the victim of the Kolkata rape case. He proposed the implementation of stringent laws aimed at preventing attacks on doctors and hospitals, underscoring the necessity for a secure environment for both patients and medical staff. Dr. Vinky Rughwani apprised President the need of implementing preventive programmes to curb Thalassemia and Sickle Cell disease in our country. Dr. Rughwani is President of Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Society of India and running a centre providing free management to hundreds of patients of Thalassemia and Sickle Cell disease patients.
