Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA) is a type of vasculitis affecting large and medium-sized arteries, primarily in individuals over 50, with a higher incidence in Northern Europe. Temporal Artery Biopsy (TAB) was the standard diagnostic method with limitations. Color Doppler Ultrasound (CDUS) is now preferred for its non-invasiveness and accuracy. Advanced imaging modalities like CT angiography, MRI angiography, and PET-CT are valuable for large-vessel vasculitis diagnosis. CDUS is also crucial for monitoring GCA activity, while PET-CT can indicate persistent inflammation. Novel biomarkers hold the potential for improved GCA monitoring in the future.
