An 8-month history of colicky abdomen pain, diarrhoea, and periodic flushing of the face and chest is presented by a 60-year-old woman. Upon examination, a bloated, non-tender belly and bilateral wheeze are found. A computed tomography scan reveals a hypervascular plaque-like mass in the terminal ileum with soft tissue spokes extending into the mesenteric fat and high levels of 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA).
