Approximately eight months ago, a tick bit a 52-year-old woman who is now at the clinic. The patient reports discovering a tick on her right inner thigh. Anaplasmosis was detected in the tick after it was delivered to a laboratory for testing. After that, she started a 10-day doxycycline regimen. The original bite place has turned into an itchy pimple. A reddish region that has progressively grown dark surrounds it. The patient has tried unsuccessfully to "pick off" the elevated portion numerous times. Upon examination, a solid, dark crimson papule encircled by hyperpigmentation is visible.
