During a soccer match two days prior, a 14-year-old teenager had a noncontact twisting injury to his left knee. She was making a cutting manoeuvre, and the knee buckled. After experiencing a pop, she could not bear the weight of the injured knee. She has a mild knee effusion and a positive Lachman test during the physical examination. A proximal anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture is visible on sagittal magnetic resonance imaging (Figure). The patient's mother remarked that she had heard that some patients were choosing ACL repairs over reconstruction.1
