A 17-year-old male presented to the ER with complaints of fever and severe abdominal pain. Patient's all routine investigations were normal. Initially, the LFT of the patient was not checked. Patient USG was done, which shows mild ascites. The patient then had scrub, leptospira, which were negative. The patient's mother reported that he has a poor appetite and rarely eats proper meals at home, often preferring to eat outside. The patient then had LFT, revealing SGOT -5761, SGPT - 6382, Bilirubin 6 mg/d, and Hep-A IgM - reactive. The patient was treated with Dextrose, Carbohydrate diet, Udiliv and discharged in stable condition. So, it was suggested that never miss a hepatitis test, especially with a history of eating outside food. SGOT and SGPT to 1000 + are strongly associated with acute viral hepatitis. Other viruses cause acute hepatitis - Hep-E, CMV, EBV etc. Kindly provide your opinion.
