A 24-year-old female was brought in for assessment after her friend noticed yellowing of the sclera. She has no chronic medical conditions. She recently encountered "gas trouble" following a religious fast but is presently without symptoms. The stool and urine colour remain normal. Vitals indicate normalcy, with scleral icterus and no pallor. Abdominal examination reveals no hepatosplenomegaly; the abdomen is soft and non-tender. The patient's laboratory results indicate the following values: Haemoglobin at 13 g/dL, Total Count at 7000 cells/mm3, and Platelets at 3.2 Lakh/μL. In the Liver Function Tests, the total bilirubin level is measured at 3.3 mg/dL, with direct bilirubin at 0.3 mg/dL, alkaline phosphatase at 70 U/L, SGOT at 12 U/L, and SGPT at 24 U/L. The total protein is recorded at 7 g/dL, with albumin at 4.2 g/dL and globulin at 2.8 g/dL. Additionally, urea levels are within the normal range. A peripheral smear has been conducted, and the report is attached. Kindly provide an appropriate diagnosis and suitable treatment option.
