A 30-year-old male presented with complaints of nocturnal urination and balanitis. His fasting and post-prandial blood sugar levels were well within the normal range, and his HbA1c indicated a pre-diabetic condition with a value of 5.75. His serum creatinine levels were also within normal limits. He was advised to focus on weight loss and regular exercise. Kindly suggest whether he should be prescribed metformin treatment or not.
