A case of Melasma

A 32-year-old female patient presented with skin lesions on her face that have been asymptomatic for two years. The lesions began on her cheeks during pregnancy and gradually became more prominent, with increased darkness on prolonged sun exposure. She had a family history of similar lesions on her sister's face and had used topical creams. On examination, bilateral symmetrical brown patches were observed on the forehead, malar region, upper lip, and nose bridge (Figure ) lamp examination accentuated the pigmented patches, and dermoscopic evaluation showed a regular pigmentary network with homogeneous brown pigmentation in the background sparing the follicular and sweat gland openings. The patient was diagnosed with melasma.
