A 60-year-old woman who had several depigmented lesions symmetrically spread throughout her arms, legs, and trunk visited a dermatological clinic. The patient explained that the lesions developed after she suffered a severe, blistering sunburn about a year before her current evaluation while on a beach vacation. A review of the patient's social history indicated that she had gone on a "celery juice cleanse" before the trip. The patient revealed that for the six months before to the vacation, she drank at least four glasses of celery juice weekly. The patient denied having ever experienced alopecia areata, thyroid problems, diabetes, pernicious anaemia, or psoriasis. Thyroid-stimulating hormone, free T4, free T3, and vitamin D serum levels were within the normal ranges. The existence of multiple well-defined, depigmented lesions that were bilaterally symmetrical and located on the arms, legs, and trunk for more than a year led the attending physician to make the vitiligo diagnosis (Fig 1). The right shin of the patient likewise had a halo nevus.
