Dysphagia for solid-food

An 89-year-old man with H/o dysphagia for solid-food, chest pain, and food impaction sensation visited the hospital. He had no H/o allergic disease, pyrosis or acid regurgitation. His symptoms worsened over the past six months, but his weight remained stable during this time. 

Physical, haematological and biochemical parameters were within normal limits. The upper endoscopy examination showed white exudates, longitudinal furrows, and concentric rings, as shown in figure 1. Histological examination revealed marked infiltration of more than 30 eosinophils (Figure 2). Hence, it confirms the diagnosis of Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE).
