A newborn infant was brought in with an enlarged scrotum.

Exam

Palpation of the scrotum demonstrated a tense fluid filled enlarged scrotum. Compression of the lower abdomen causes enlargement of the scrotum. No bowel sounds are detected on auscultation.

Findings

Transabdominal and trans-scrotal grayscale sonography was performed. The testes were flattened and elongated.
