A 38-week induction of labour was requested by a woman (G9P6026) in her early 40s with no prior medical history due to an arrest of descent and unsettling foetal heart rate tracings. However, the patient was admitted with a 1-day history of fever and shortness of breath and tested positive by PCR for COVID-19 infection. Three days after receiving the COVID-19 diagnosis, her oxygen saturation on room air fell to 88%, and she needed 3 L of oxygen per minute through a nasal cannula. On day twelve of the hospital, she was later identified as having COVID-19 pneumonia and required intubation. Additional laboratory tests revealed platelets of 341 k/L, a 55 mm/hour sedimentation rate, and a C-reactive protein. Her haemoglobin fell from 9.7 g/dL to 5.6 g/dL. C.T. scan of the abdomen with and without angiography was done.
