After doing a bench press two days prior, a 43-year-old male complains of a left shoulder ache. According to a physical examination, he has ecchymosis in the axilla and pain to palpate over the anterior shoulder. A full-thickness rupture of the pectoralis major tendon distally with a 4 cm retraction is seen on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the left chest wall (Figure).
