Symptomatic seizures frequently complicate acute intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), with reported occurrences ranging from 5% to 14%. Early and late seizures impact 4–32% within 2 weeks and 4–16.3% after. Factors influencing seizures include volume, cortex involvement, age, and severity. Late seizures, linked to cerebral changes, increase mortality and poor outcomes. The CAVE score and LANE score, developed to classify seizure risk after ICH, demonstrate varying accuracy. Prophylactic antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) may lower seizure risk, but their usage requires careful evaluation due to reported adverse effects.
