Tactile fevers

A 16-year-old teenager arrives at the emergency room after experiencing vomiting for three days straight, tactile fevers, and a minor headache that subsided two days previously. Except for high fever (100.3 °F) and a 133 beats per minute pulse rate, the patient's vital signs are normal. Blood testing and chest radiography (Figure 1-2) are prescribed. Besides an elevated white blood cell count (19,000/L), laboratory findings are within normal limits.
