Comparing Endovascular Thrombectomy in Direct vs. Transferred Stroke Patients

Study findings from the SELECT2 trial revealed significant insights into the comparative effectiveness of endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) in patients directly presenting versus those transferred with large ischemic strokes. The analysis also explored the influence of transfer times and neuroimaging changes on clinical outcomes. Results demonstrated EVT's efficacy in both groups, albeit with slightly more favourable outcomes for direct presentations. Longer transfer times and evolving ischemic changes were associated with diminished EVT effectiveness, highlighting the critical need for prompt patient identification and expedited transport.
