This controlled laboratory study evaluated the biomechanical characteristics of the all-inside meniscus root repair procedure compared to the transtibial technique. The study found that meniscus root tears increased peak and mean pressures on the articular cartilage. However, the all-inside meniscus root repair procedure restored these pressures to levels similar to the intact meniscus. The all-inside repair also showed decreased stiffness compared to the transtibial technique but had a similar load to failure. These findings suggest that all-inside meniscus root repair can effectively reduce pressures on the articular cartilage.
