A study evaluated patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) in Turkey between 2015 and 2020. A total of 563 patients treated with intensity-modulated radiotherapy were analyzed retrospectively. Most patients were male (74.1%), and most had stage III-IVA disease (78.7%). After a median follow-up of 34 months, 8.2% of patients had a locoregional relapse, and 8% had a distant relapse. The three-year overall survival rate was 89.5%. Patients with age ≥50, male sex, keratinizing histology, T4, N3, and the advanced stage had lower overall survival rates. The study found that patients with NPC in Turkey have mixed clinical features of both east and west, and survival outcomes are comparable to other reported series. However, the rate of distant metastases appears to be lower.
