A Randomized Clinical Trial Trial Reveals Safety Concerns for Intraventricular Lavage in Treating Intraventricular Hemorrhage

A recent clinical trial conducted in Denmark has raised concerns about the use of intraventricular lavage as a treatment for intraventricular hemorrhage. The study, which included 21 participants, was terminated early due to a significantly higher risk of severe adverse events associated with intraventricular lavage. The procedure was also found to have a higher rate of catheter occlusion and longer procedure times compared to standard drainage. The results suggest caution is necessary when considering intraventricular lavage as a treatment option for this condition to ensure patient safety.
