A scoring system to predict the technical difficulty of endoscopic resection for cardial submucosal tumors

This study aimed to establish a clinical scoring model to assess the technical difficulty of endoscopic resection for cardial SMTs. Univariate analysis identified predictors, and multivariate logistic regression selected significant covariates (P < 0.05) to create the scoring system. The resulting clinical score included male gender (2 points), extraluminal growth (3 points), and maximum diameter ≥3 cm (3 points). The model exhibited good discriminatory power (AUC = 0.860) and goodness of fit. In the training and validation cohorts, technical difficulty increased with scores: easy (0 points), intermediate (1–3), difficult (4–6), and very difficult (>6). This scoring system provides a valuable tool for predicting the technical challenges of endoscopic resection for cardial SMTs, aiding clinicians in treatment planning.
