A Systematic Review of Persistent Clinical Features After SARS-CoV-2 in the Pediatric Population

Long-term health effects post COVID-19 in kids are uncertain. This study analyzed data from various sources to understand long COVID prevalence in children. Out of 15,000 participants from 27 cohorts, over 20 symptoms were reported. Around 16.2% of children had persistent symptoms 3+ months post COVID-19. Female gender might be linked to specific long COVID symptoms. Variations in definitions and methods among studies caused heterogeneity. This highlights the need for rigorous, controlled future studies to better comprehend and address these persistent symptoms in children and adolescents.
