A systematic review of the economic value proposition for commercially available nonsurgical weight‐loss interventions

This study aimed to assess the economic evaluation literature on nonsurgical weight-loss interventions to determine if they are cost-effective or result in cost savings. The study reviewed relevant databases and identified 20 studies that met the inclusion criteria. They found that 10 out of 20 pharmaceutical comparisons showed evidence of cost-effectiveness, while 4 out of 12 nonpharmaceutical comparisons demonstrated cost-effectiveness. Additionally, 5 interventions claimed to result in cost savings, but methodological concerns raised doubts about the validity of these claims. The study highlights the need for more robust evidence regarding the economic value of commercially available weight-loss interventions.
