A study on a smartphone health app intervention for type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients showed mixed results. Although overall step count didn't increase significantly after 12 weeks, those starting with fewer steps (<7,500/day) saw improvement with the app. HbA1c levels at week 12 were lower in the intervention group compared to controls, especially in those with higher initial HbA1c. Body weight decreased in both groups by week 24, but no significant difference was noted between them. The app's impact on physical activity and glycemic control varied among participants, suggesting tailored interventions might be more effective.
