Acute respiratory distress syndrome in patients with COVID-19 vs. Non-COVID-19

A study revealed significant differences between COVID-19-related ARDS and non-COVID ARDS. Researchers conducted a comparative study in the ICU over two years, analyzing clinical, echocardiographic, and lab data from 140 ARDS patients. The COVID-19 group, mainly younger males with higher BMI, faced more severe outcomes, including organ dysfunction and higher SOFA scores. Despite greater severity, they had lower comorbidities. This insight could reshape ARDS management.
