The study examines how adolescent risk factors are linked to pre-pregnancy obesity and high gestational weight gain (GWG) in 656 women. Factors such as adolescent overweight or obesity (RR = 4.98), body dissatisfaction (RR = 1.99), and unhealthy weight control behaviors (RR = 1.70) were significantly associated with increased risk of pre-pregnancy obesity. Associations with high GWG were also noted, such as adolescent overweight or obesity (RR = 1.57). Supporting adolescent health could improve pregnancy-related weight outcomes.
