
The study aimed to assess the effect of alirocumab, a proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitor, on postprandial hyperlipidaemia (PPL) in type 2 diabetes (T2D). Results showed that alirocumab did not reduce postprandial triglyceride levels but decreased fasting non-HDL cholesterol, remnant cholesterol, and apolipoprotein levels. NMR analyses revealed reduced postprandial VLDL2 and IDL cholesterol, suggesting PCSK9 mainly affects remnant cholesterol metabolism, not intestinal chylomicron production.
