A retrospective study of 350 patients who underwent surgery for intermittent exotropia compared the outcomes of three surgical methods: unilateral lateral rectus recession–medial rectus resection (R&R), bilateral lateral rectus recession (BLR), and unilateral lateral rectus recession (ULR). The study assesses exodrift stabilization periods and long-term surgical results. Initially, BLR showed a significant difference in exodeviation compared to ULR and R&R. However, this difference disappeared after 6 months. Exodrift stabilization took varying times (ULR: 6 months, BLR: 1 year, R&R: 4.5 years), but surgical success rates were similar among the procedures at long-term follow-up.
