Analyzing the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats in the Diagnosis and Management of Isthmocele

In a recent State‐of‐the‐Art Review, a SWOT analysis of uterine isthmocele (Cesarean scar defect) management sheds light on its current status. Strengths include diagnosing isthmocele via transvaginal ultrasound and the potential for surgical repair to enhance fertility and reduce obstetric complications. However, there's a lack of consensus on diagnostic methods and surgical benefits, demanding skilled surgeons. Threats include choosing an unsuitable surgical approach, overtreating asymptomatic cases, and the absence of cost‐effectiveness analyses. While isthmocele adversely affects fertility, supporting surgical repair in all asymptomatic cases remains a challenge. Hysteroscopic repair gains traction, subject to myometrial thickness.
