Anti-Ku Myositis: Inflammatory Protein-Aggregate Muscle Disease

Anti-Ku + myositis is a rare inflammatory myopathy linked to connective tissue diseases. A study analyzed muscle biopsies from 26 patients with anti-Ku antibodies, identifying significant inflammation, necrosis, and sarcoplasmic protein aggregates. Proteomic and transcriptomic analysis revealed altered autophagy, proteasome, and cell stress pathways. These findings suggest that Anti-Ku + myositis is an acquired inflammatory protein-aggregate myopathy, providing insight into its distinct morphological and molecular characteristics.
