The study investigated the prevalence of anxiety in patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) by comparing the proportion of anxiety in 3,304 nAMD patients and 16,515 age- and gender-matched controls. The data was obtained from Clalit Health Services in Israel. The study found that anxiety was more common in patients with nAMD (13.2%) compared to the control group (10.2%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed a significant association between anxiety and nAMD, adjusted for age, gender, and socio-economic status. Physicians treating nAMD patients should be aware of this association and provide appropriate care for the anxiety associated with nAMD.
