The secondary analysis of the AUGUSTUS trial compared apixaban vs vitamin K antagonists (VKA) and aspirin vs placebo in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) after acute coronary syndrome (ACS) or percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Apixaban reduced bleeding risk compared to VKA, while showing similar ischemic event and hospitalization rates. Aspirin increased bleeding risk without impacting ischemic events.
