A study involving 45,000 individuals revealed a strong association between COVID-19 infection and high blood pressure development. This research is the first to compare COVID-19's impact on persistent high blood pressure to influenza, stating that while COVID-19 severity is higher in those with preexisting hypertension, its role in triggering high blood pressure remains uncertain. The findings emphasize the need for post-COVID-19 hypertension screening for earlier identification and treatment of related complications.
