A study comparing venous thromboembolism (VTE) prophylaxis strategies in hip arthroplasty patients with femoral neck fractures found oral aspirin (100 mg/day) noninferior to conventional therapy (low-molecular-weight heparin followed by rivaroxaban) for VTE prevention. Incidence rates of VTE were 11.6% and 10.1%, respectively (rate difference: 1.5%, 95% CI: 0.7–2.3%, P=0.017). No significant differences were observed in bleeding events (3.3% vs. 8.4%, P=0.092) or other complications.
