The study investigated the association between the pepsinogen ratio (PGR) and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV), an indicator of atherosclerotic progression. Analyzing data from 465 patients, the study identified a nonlinear correlation between PGR and both right and left baPWV. Below specific thresholds (22.5 for RbaPWV, 22.3 for LbaPWV), lower PGR levels showed a significant negative correlation with baPWV, but this relationship becomes nonsignificant at higher PGR levels. The findings suggest a potential therapeutic strategy for atherosclerosis by modulating PGR levels.
