A case-control study conducted at Taichung Veterans General Hospital (2010-2023) explored the relationship between chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) and peritoneal dialysis (PD) in patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). Results indicated that PD may be a significant risk factor for CIDP, with an odds ratio of 5.125 (CI: 1.078–24.372, p = 0.040). Other factors, including dialysis duration, gender, diabetes mellitus, and electrolyte imbalances, did not show a significant association. The study suggests systemic inflammation from dialysate exchange could play a role, highlighting the need for further research to clarify the underlying mechanisms.
