This study investigates the potential causal relationship between autoimmune diseases and sepsis, along with its 28-day mortality. Utilizing Mendelian randomization (MR) and observational analyses, the research identifies rheumatoid arthritis as independently associated with an increased risk of sepsis. However, autoimmune diseases are not linked to higher 28-day mortality in sepsis patients. Interestingly, the study suggests a potential bidirectional relationship, indicating sepsis might trigger the onset of psoriasis.
