A study explored the potential causal link between estimated glomerular filtration rate (EGFR) and prostate cancer in East Asian and European populations. Utilizing various analytical techniques, including MR-Egger and IVW methods, the study found no evidence of a causal relationship between EGFR and prostate cancer in either population. The unbiased estimates, obtained after addressing confounding factors and reverse causal associations, suggest that improving EGFR detection may not be necessary for suspected prostate cancer cases, potentially alleviating the economic burden on patients.
