Association of Neighborhood Deprivation With Thrombolysis and Thrombectomy for Acute Stroke

This population-based cohort study in Ontario, Canada, aimed to explore the association between neighborhood-level material deprivation and the likelihood of receiving intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) or thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke within a universal healthcare system. The study found that individuals in the most materially deprived neighborhoods were less likely to receive these treatments compared to those in the least deprived neighborhoods, highlighting disparities in acute stroke care. The findings emphasize the need for targeted policies and resource allocation to ensure equitable access to stroke treatments across different socioeconomic groups.
