Low insulin-like growth-factor binding protein-2 (IGFBP-2) levels have been linked to obesity-related metabolic issues. A study on healthy individuals found that low IGFBP-2 levels were associated with higher body fat, insulin resistance, and unfavourable lipid profiles. Additionally, individuals with low IGFBP-2 levels had increased liver fat content, regardless of their visceral fat volume or gender. These findings suggest that IGFBP-2 may be a potential marker for cardiometabolic risk and liver fat accumulation, providing valuable insights into fatty liver disease.
