This study investigated the impact of greenness and fine particulate matter (PM2.5) on overweight/obesity in Chinese older adults. Researchers found that higher greenness (NDVI) was associated with a reduced risk of overweight/obesity, while increased PM2.5 exposure raised the risk. Additionally, PM2.5 partially mediated the protective effect of greenness, accounting for around 20% of the effect. These findings suggest that green environments may help lower the risk of overweight/obesity in older adults.
