Asthma Reduces Exercise Capacity and Quality of Life

A study compared 41 stable adult asthma patients to 41 healthy controls, finding significant impairments in exercise capacity, pulmonary function, peripheral muscle strength, and quality of life. Asthmatic patients showed reduced peak VO2, muscle strength, and pulmonary function, increased dyspnea, and lower sleep quality. These findings highlight the broad impact of asthma on physical performance and daily life, suggesting that tailored exercise programs could improve outcomes for patients with asthma.
