AstraZeneca and Sanofi's Infant RSV Vaccine, Beyfortus, Approved in China and Set for 2024-2025 Season Launch

AstraZeneca announced on Tuesday that its respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine for infants, developed in collaboration with Sanofi, has received approval in China. The jointly created RSV shot, named Beyfortus, has already gained approval in the European Union and the United States. AstraZeneca anticipates Beyfortus to be accessible in China during the upcoming 2024-2025 RSV season. The highly contagious RSV, causing cold-like symptoms and significant hospitalizations in infants and the elderly, has regulatory applications under review in Japan and other nations.
