This study aimed to assess the effect of baricitinib (BARI), a Janus Kinase inhibitor, on bone properties and synovial inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. The study included 30 RA patients who received BARI for 52 weeks. BARI significantly improved disease activity and synovial inflammation. There was a significant improvement in trabecular bone mineral density (vBMD), as well as improvements in biomechanical properties such as estimated stiffness and failure load. The number and size of erosions in the joints remained stable. No new safety concerns were observed. These findings suggest that BARI therapy can improve bone health in RA patients.
