
The study compared the effect of behaviorally tailored mailed messages on patient activation to reduce stroke risk. Among 3,843 participants (2084 EHS, 1759 VA), incentive messages significantly increased response rates, with EHS patients more responsive to incentive messages and VA patients to incentive plus salience messages. 31% of EHS and 27% of VA callers were unaware of their stroke risk factors. Tailored messages effectively engage high-risk patients, highlighting the need for awareness.
