The study investigated the bidirectional association between sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) and open-angle glaucoma (OAG) using nationwide, population-based data over a 12-year follow-up period. The study found a bidirectional association between SSNHL and OAG, suggesting a shared pathogenesis. Study 1 showed that OAG increased the risk of SSNHL, while Study 2 showed that SSNHL increased the risk of OAG. Subgroup analysis revealed significant associations between old age, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and diabetes with both SSNHL and OAG.
