Short-term outcomes favored younger patients in aided pure tone audiometry. Early implantation correlated with improved hearing outcomes at ages 2 to 5 years in long-term follow-up. Perceptive levels were superior at 4 years for the younger group. Results suggested better hearing performances for children implanted before 24 months.
