Biologic Therapy Efficacy in Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps

In a retrospective study of 33 Italian patients with severe, uncontrolled chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP), dupilumab, omalizumab, and mepolizumab were compared for their clinical effects. All three biologics showed significant improvements in quality of life (SNOT-22 scores) and nasal polyp size (Nasal Polyp Score). Dupilumab exhibited the most rapid and sustained improvement in nasal polyp size, with significant reductions starting from 4 weeks. Olfactory function also improved significantly in the dupilumab group, reducing anosmia from 64.3% to 28.6% by 9 months. Asthma control improved across all groups. These results confirm the effectiveness of biologics in managing severe CRSwNP in real-world clinical settings.
